SACHIN'S CENTURY GOES IN VAIN

Bangladesh: Little master Sachin Tendulkar's historical 100th century goes in vain as Bangladesh defeated India by 5 wickets here on friday in the Asia cup 2012. Indian side batted first to score a challenging 289 for the loss of five wickets.

Sachin Tendulkar's 114 proved to be the major contribution of team's total. Virat Kohli scored a 66 to contribute to the outstanding partnership that led to India's total of 289.

India lost its early wicket of Gautam Gambhir but later it gained momentum from the accelerated batting of Tendulkar and Kohli. After the wickets of Sachin and Kohli, Raina and Dhoni started playing with cracking shots to increase the striking rate which ultimately gave India a fair total.

Bangaldesh batted really well. They played sensitively and sensationally. Though their scoring rate was low, they managed to keep a trail behind the target. Tamim Iqbal who scored a 70 to give the home side a nice start. In the middle overs Ashraful and Islam scored well to keep Indians under pressure.

At the end the required run rate went up and Bangladesh found it difficult to go in pace with it. But when Rahim came to crease he scored fairly with lots of boundaries to keep the requires run rate low. And finally, Bangladesh won the match with a few balls to spare.

Through their victory, Bangladesh kept their hopes of staying alive and qualifying for the finals in the Asia cup, 2012. Both the innings were thrilling because, the first innings witnessed the master blaster's century while the second innings was thrilled by the batting of Rahim.
