GINGER WINE RECIPE

This time i thought of making something which is pleasing to both the tastebuds as well as the stomach. Ginger wine is a great drink with medicinal properties also. It is tasty as well as good for your health..



Ingredients

1. 500 g (1 lb) raisins, chopped and squashed
Zest and juice of 4 lemons
2. 1 sachet white wine yeast
3. 1.4 kg (2.8 pounds) of sugar
4. One piece of fresh ginger - 5 inches / 12cm long
5. 5 litres (5 quarts) of water


Preperation Method

Peel the ginger and slice very perfectly. Using the plastic fermenting vessel or another large non-metal package, add the ginger, lemon zest syrup and raisins. Then add over 2 1/2 ltrs (2 quarts) of steaming water. Protect and set it aside for 24 hours. Next add an additional 2 1/2 ltrs (2 1/2 quarts) of boiled and chilled water. Next add the yeast, freshly squeezed orange juice, sugar, and mix until the sugar is completely demolished. Next add the yeast by following the guidelines provided on the bundle.

Cover and keep the combination to ferment for 3 - 4 days then add into a demijohn through a sterilized channel and filter. Fit a percolate tube and keep to ferment for several days. Decant off into a fresh demijohn and set aside until the ginger wine opens up and then bottle.
