Ultrabooks: Is it the right time to buy it??

So what are the Ultrabooks??

Yes! You heard it. Ultrabook is a brand name created by Intel for its high end laptops or notebooks which is ultraportable and reduces bulkiness without compromising its performance and battery life. It’s basically MacBook air type notebooks.

So what are their features??

They are the slimmest class of laptops in the world and some of them even have battery lives which exceeds that of ordinary laptops with bulky batteries. They obtain this perfection without much compromising on the features except that they have omitted the Ethernet ports, VGA ports and the traditional optical drives.
They are fast, portable but are they useful to you?

Indeed they will be because they are designed to your needs. Some of their advantages are as follows.
  1. They are fast portable slimmer and lightweight which makes it your perfect companion for road trips and tours.
  2. They no longer comes with 1 of all kinds of ports. In this modern era no one needs a laptop with a sample of all the available ports fitted onto it. Only very few like USB and HDMI are used while others are rarely used. VGA is sometimes used otherwise only USB and HDMI is only needed HDMI also is not very important
  3. The optical drives are now a days not so very important because of the evolution of faster, safer and smaller pen drives. When is the last time you used your laptops optical drive?? Huh months or years ago right?? It is no longer a necessary part.
  4. They comes with SSD drives which makes them faster to boot and faster to work upon. Ordinary HDDs acts as a bottleneck for the processor limiting their speed and processing abilities.
  5. Their designs are yet another crowd puller. It is known to attract crowds to wherever it goes. Hmm seems like a pied piper….it has an amazing design which amazes everyone.

Some of their disadvantages are...
  1.  They have very shallow keyboard when compared to the usual laptops, which makes longer typing works like those for your school assignments boring.
  2. They have fewer USB ports and lack of Ethernet port comes to a serious issue when the user does not have any Wi-Fi access
  3.  High price – That’s a great disadvantage for the Ultrabooks even though they are designed to being an all-rounder.
  4.  Low on storage – Ultrabooks comes low on storage because they use the SSDs for their storage purposes and SSDs are way too costly than the conventional HDDs. Most of the Ultrabooks comes with SSDs ranging from 32 GB to 512 GB. This takes me to the 2000s when the storage was costly. Now a days even the lowest laptops comes with 500 gigs of HDD and at this time 32 gigs of SSD are ridiculous.

What are the types of Ultrabooks??

Yes there are only two types of Ultrabooks. Ones resemble laptops while the other resembling both they are called convertible laptops or tablets, or hybrid laptops. So what’s the big deal? Of course you don’t have to carry your tablet and laptop around you the same time. Moreover tablet alone seems to be like a toy or a gimmick. But when it comes to a hybrid it a way lot meaningful.

So let’s come to our point.
Why not buy an Ultrabooks now? You may have guessed it right. There are only three main reasons not to buy now and to wait until these three reasons are solved.
  1. The processors – they are one of the main problems in the Ultrabooks field because the modern Ultrabooks where made out of the processors that where actually designed for laptops , what it means is that you need to wait till there is an invention of a processor that is cool for a Ultrabook and is way lot faster. Today’s Ultrabooks are built by compromising their processing power for their portability and thinness.
  2. SSD – As mentioned before the SSDs coming with modern Ultrabooks has only a very low capacity from 32 gigs to 512 gigs while most of the laptops of the similar price has 1-2 TB of storage. The main cause is the cost of these SSD they are too costly. And so we have to wait for an year or so till the prices of SSDs become near to those of HDDs. There has to be some discovery in this field so that they can produce SSDs in a way too cheaper process.
  3. Freshly baked - Ultrabooks are a series of slim and lightweight laptops that are made new and so this technology is new and so more costly and we have to wait until this is quite common and made mainstream.

So when should I buy?

That’s not quite sure. You have to wait from 6-12 months before the Ultrabooks with the similar specs as those of the laptops today become as cheap as the laptop itself.  You have to wait a little.
