Leonard Lotkin, professor of entomology at the University of California, Sand Diego, says ‘Its jaws are so large that they wrap up either side of the head when closed. When the jaws are open they are actually longer than the male’s front legs.’
The members who discovered this killer wasp says that they have never found such a wasp till now. The wasps are found from the place Sulawesi. The large jaws are adaptation for their self defense as well as for reproduction. The jaws protect the nest from being attacked by others. It also helps in mating thus protecting the paternity of the wasps. All around, the wasps are spreading fear in people as seventy people are killed by these wasps till now in Indonesia.
